I met Melanie at the Birmingham event in May -- she was having so much fun and was just a joy to be around. She truly lights up the room!
I asked Melanie to share a little about being a volunteer for E-Women.
How did you hear about volunteering for E-Women?
My church, Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Vestavia Hills, AL, hosted the E-Women event last year, so I knew this was a quality event that would be fun to volunteer at again!
Where did you volunteer?
I was a hostess- I took care of Chonda Pierce.
Oh my, that sounds like fun. What was your favorite part of volunteering?
Seeing behind the scenes, meeting all the people that make an event of this magnitude work was an honor and privilege.
You worked with Chonda, who's a joy! Any funny stories, touching moments you wish to share?
Chonda is a MESS! She kept me laughing and on my toes. Her battle with depression touched the hearts of so many; ladies from all around the country came up to her in her 'signing line' to tell her how much they related to her struggles. Chonda is giving hope to many Christian women- through honest truth and laughter!
What was your favorite part of the conference?
My favorite part of the conference is the high-energy Praise and Worship. No matter who's leading in song, audiences are led to the Throne!
How will you take what you learned at this conference and use it in your life?
Each E-Women's conference reminds me that God uses EVERY struggle to help you relate to others that need Him.
What would tell someone who's interested in becoming a volunteer? Any hints, tips or advice?
Get on board. Not only do you get a free ticket inside the scenes of E-Women, but you get to meet great men and women who serve the Lord with their entire lives. Advice to future volunteers: come with a servants-heart, flexible and willing to serve wherever you're needed. There's no greater volunteer than those who will roll up their sleeves and get messy!
I would love to volunteer in the future! This conference always reaches the needs of so many women and it's worth every minute!
